Republican lawmakers took to social media to condemn the FBI’s raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
In a series of tweets, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio likened the raid — which reports said was focused on whether Trump took classified material from the White House — to dictatorships persecuting political rivals.

Rubio also expressed concern the new Inflation Reduction Act, which the House is expected to approve, will unleash Internal Revenue Service agents on Republicans.
Kevin McCarthy, the House minority leader, promised a series of investigations if Republicans take back the lower chamber, which betting markets assign a roughly 80% probability.
Other Republicans expressed a similar view.
Democratic lawmakers defended the raid.
